NFT Crash Course for Beginners and Artists
Welcome to the NFT Crash Course for beginners and fine artists. If you’re wondering where to begin with this NFT Craziness, then you’ve come to the right place. A year ago my head was spinning over NFT creation. After navigating these new waters of the crypto art space and simultaneously working in graphic design for 15 years, I decided to create a course for beginners who want to create their first NFT collection. The NFT Crash Course combines both theoretical framework for creating something AMAZING and thought provoking with the necessary skills like sketching and ipad illustration to launch a collection. I cover the hands on skills and process you need to learn in order to enter this space. We don’t talk endlessly about the blockchain, we actually create in this course! You can watch me launch a collection on Rarible.
But first let’s discuss what NFTs are and how someone would create one…
What are NFTs?
NFTs are digital intangible assets called non fungible tokens. Non fungible means they cannot be replaced and each asset is a unique one. All this means is that your photography, sound clips, video clips, video game characters, or digital art and fine art can be repurposed into NFT collections and sold online to buyers.
How are NFTs used?
NFTs are used as profile images on Twitter for users. They can be used in Metaverses or displayed on digital screens in homes and various spaces. This makes NFTs very versatile. They attach to your cryptocurrency wallet until they are sold.
How does an artist get started?
Fine artists can sell NFTs also. All they need to do is transform their fine art into a digital form in order to be sold on one of these platforms. Digital formats such as simple JPEGs are accepted on all of the marketplaces.
If you’d like to see the entire process of launching from start to finish step by step, check out my NFT Crash Course. This course will walk you through the mindset needed to design a collection, the marketing skills needed to promote your collection, creation, and your launch. Selecting a marketplace can be a difficult thing to decide on. We will discuss marketplace selection and how to decide where to launch your NFTs.
Which marketplace is the best for fine artists to sell NFTs?
Each marketplace is quite different and there is no one marketplace that truly is better than another. I’m not going to lie. I have my own preference of what I believe is the best marketplace for creators, but you’ll have to take the course for that recommendation. The reason? I offer that to my private community of students, because this information is private as I’m collaborating with this one platform in launching my own collection.
Some marketplaces offer NFTs to be sold using Ethereum or Polygon, and others are using different coins. Marketplaces differ in the style of art they sell and the way they transact. I recommend deciding on a marketplace based on your own style of art and how it fits into a marketplace.
What are generative NFTs?
Generative NFTs are a term for collections of 100 or more NFTs that have been created using either code or some other simulation technology that produces many different outcomes. Simply put, this software generates a lot of NFTs by combining different parts of a graphic together. The Bored Apes and other collections were created this way.
What else is covered in the NFT Crash Course? NFT and Taxes
I cover other topics that haven’t been mentioned in other courses such as planning for taxes when you launch an NFT collection. As this information is up and coming and changing from week to week, I offer a roundtable with a professional accountant in my course detailing how to plan for selling NFTs in the marketplace.
