What are the different types of NFTs?
NFTs, or non fungible tokens, encompass many different types of files. Creators are making everything that exists in the modern world as a virtual NFT. Since the Beeple collection we’ve seen an explosion of NFTs hit the marketplace. NFTs, or non-fungible tokens, come in many different types now. If you’re interested in learning about making your own NFTs head over here, or if you want to know what an NFT is then read my article on what NFTs explained for beginners.
Different Types of NFTs

JPEG NFTs
NFTs can be anything that is traded for cryptocurrency. The most common form of NFT is a jpeg image, artwork reproduction, or digital artwork. Beeple’s famous photomontage image sold for millions literally. He opened up the vision for NFT art as editorial, controversial, and creative.
People are thinking outside the box and creating NFT art using 3D software. Another approach to making NFT art is through animated graphics. Animated illustrations created using iPad sell for a high price on Rarible and Opensea. Collectors are snatching up these creations as great investments.
Video as NFTs
Video clips listed on these platforms rake in a high price. One example is the NFL game highlights video that sold. They’ve announced a new deal to release game highlights as NFTs now. You can read about it here. This attracts sports enthusiasts in various industries to learn about NFTs and start collecting. Platforms are in development that target various groups such as comic collectors. Veve is another example of a platform narrowing its audience to a specific type of collector. Check out this article on how Grimes sold video NFTs.
Animated Graphics
Animated graphics pose as good NFTs. Many creators are selling animated images created from free software. Popular memes sold on NFT marketplaces became popular a year ago.
3D Objects as NFTs
3D art sells on SuperRare and other platforms. Creators use Cinema 4D to create them and sometimes they are sold as video content. Beeple used Cinema 4D and other software to create his still images.
Virtual Land NFTs
In the last month, the news publicized new virtual land buyers. Someone purchased a plot of land next to Snoop Dogg in the meta verse.
Traditional Art as NFTs
People are selling traditional art as digital NFTs on many different platforms. One platform, OBJKT.COM, targets fine artists instead of mainstream graphics seen on Rarible. The style and quality of artwork on Objkt.com appear higher in quality and more “artsy.” Any art can be converted into an NFT easily by digitizing it. It can be photographed or scanned and then turned into a standard JPEG.
Virtual Pets
Similar to the gigapets from the 90’s pets can be purchased as NFTs. Crypto kitties, as a project, emerged a year ago and exploded in popularity. On their platform you can purchase, breed, and collect cryptokitties. If you’re interested in digital pets, you can explore creating your own NFT cats.
Can one NFT be exchanged for another NFT?
Yes, since NFTs are digital objects they can be exchanged for crypto or other NFTs. You set your own price and trade them for any price you decide they’re worth.
